I am looking forward to Ephesoft Innovate – the Ephesoft User Conference in Irvine California the week of October 16th. This should be a great opportunity to network with Ephesoft customers and integrators as well as preview their latest version.
Enterprise Deep Dive
Day 1 provides us with a deep dive into the flagship product, Ephesoft Enterprise. I’m curious about what has changed and just as importantly, what has stayed the same.
10/17 – 11:00 AM ~ EPHESOFT 4.5 DEEP DIVE
There are numerous exciting features and enhancements in the Ephesoft Enterprise 4.5. This session will cover the top game changers and how they can improve the customer experience, including upgraded database and OS support, security changes, user interface design, data extraction capabilities, image enhancement, and multidimensional classification.
The database and OS information should be interesting. I’ve worked with both Microsoft OS + Microsoft SQL server installations as well as the Linux OS + Maria DB implementations. In previous versions there were advantages to each, so it will be interesting to see if the two platforms are on equal footing.
Spoiler Alert / Prediction
I suspect that 4.5 will have official support for Oracle as a database back-end. I don’t know this for a fact, but I know that the Linux crowd has been clamoring for it.
Mandatory Product Roadmap Discussion
One of the main reasons customers attend events like Ephesoft Innovate is to ask questions about the product roadmaps. Sounds like we will have to wait for day two until we get a ton of information, but the 4.5 deep dive on day one should give us a bit of a preview.
10/18 – 10:15 AM ~ PRODUCT ROADMAP
During this session, we’ll examine the latest features and upgrades coming to the Ephesoft Smart Capture suite of products and discover what to anticipate from upcoming releases. We’ll discuss the new capabilities of the product suite and request you share your needs for the Ephesoft product and solution portfolio. Products covered in this session include Enterprise, SnapDoc, and Universe, plus enhancements to Web Services and Mobile SDK.
My main focus will be Enterprise and Universe, but I’m interested in how Ephesoft views the Mobile Capture space moving forward. As a developer, the API changes will also be of interest.
It sounds like the new version of Ephesoft has a way to set up automated extraction rules based on the users performing validation.
10/18 – 2:45 ~ LEARNING EXTRACTION RULES FROM OPERATORS
Leverage the knowledge of the Validation Operators to dynamically create extraction rules.
and a bit on machine learning within Universe.
10/18 – 3:15 ~ CAN YOUR MACHINE LEARN? WHAT GRADE WOULD YOU GIVE IT?
Let’s explore the latest in Ephesoft technology and how Universe can Learn and adapt for data extraction based on simple end user training.
I have enabled auto-learning for custom classification, but I’m interested in what has been done around machine learning for metadata extraction.
There is also a deep dive on document classification that should be interesting.
10/18 – 3:30 ~ TAKE A DEEP DIVE INTO HOW EPHESOFT ENTERPRISE CLASSIFIES DOCUMENTS.
Learn about the various options of classification in Ephesoft Enterprise, including what use cases would be appropriate for each.
I believe that I have used all of the classification methods available in the current version and have even written custom classification scripts, but this session will still be worth watching.
